The idea was that you would use it to remove harsh details in order to create more flattering portraits. The texture started life as a slider smoothing the skin. ![]() It flattens out the midtones in your image, removes a lot of detail, and to be fair, tends to create an eerie, mellow 70s vibe. This has the effect of bringing out the small details and when it is composed a lot, it makes the images look super dramatic.ĭialing Clarity down does the opposite. If you increase it, you will darken the darker midtones in your image and brighten the lighter ones without affecting the deeper shadows or lighter highlights too much.
